The bills said "rifle" so there will be no effect on AR pistol, right?

The bills effect any firearm with a "bullet button" style maglock.

The bills redefine what a "detachable magazine" is, so that a "bullet button" maglock is no longer considered a fixed magazine.

    AB 1663:
    (d) For purposes of this section, the following definitions shall apply:
    (1) "Detachable magazine" means an ammunition feeding device that can be removed readily from the firearm without disassembly of the firearm action.
    (2) "Fixed magazine" means an ammunition feeding device contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed without disassembly of the firearm action.

    AB 1664:
    (b) For purposes of this section, "detachable magazine" means an ammunition feeding device that can be removed readily from the firearm without disassembly of the firearm action, including an ammunition feeding device that can be removed readily from the firearm with the use of a tool.
