I have just a few more tweeks to my Stealth arms 1911, anodizing/blending the rear of the slide and also a taller sight ( shooting high just a bit ).
The question i have is I have had three rounds blow out at the botom of the shell casing and read that it could be firing out of battery.
So i have increased my recoil spring from 13 lbs to 14 lbs will this help?
The cycling is still smooth but it is harder to put in the full lenth guide rod.I havent had time to test it yet. Also thanks goes out to Mosin virus for his great videos.

How do the cases look that did not rupture?

Cases that did not rupture were fine.

How do the loaded rounds sit in the chamber? Are the bases flush with the hood? Do they sit above the hood? Below the hood? When installing the barrel, did you have to remove any metal from the feed ramp? Are those 9mm?

The cases that did not rupture, did they have any bulges? How much brass is exposed by the feeding ramp?

Yes, I had to enlarge the feed ramp on the barrel.
This is a 9mm round and i found another with a bulge that managed to land in my range bag.

I have the exact same barrel as your in 9mm. The pic I posted is probably the maximum you can take metal off the feed ramp. My casings already have bulges. Sorry to break the bad news to you but that barrel is done. You might want to get another or have someone weld and redo the feed ramp.

Yeah, the ramp is cut too deep and that opens up the case support too much. That is why you are likely having cases blow out on the bottom. If it is only 3 cases, you may have also had a failure to return to battery in those instances. Even by a small amount which would still allow you to pull a trigger.

As Dumas pointed out, you will need to redo the existing barrel after welding up the ramp, or, go with a ramped barrel and solve a couple of worries - better feeding without having to cut the ramp deeper, not having to worry about unsupported cases, and not having to worry about the aluminum ramp holding up. Of course, for a ramped barrel your frame will need to be modified.
