If you were to place a handgun in your personal vehicles, for emergency situations; not checked on @ one year, what handgun would you chose?

Something like a M&P with a polymer frame and stainless steel slide. Or a Sig with an aluminum frame and stainless steel slide.

Probably a Charter Arms revolver and a couple of speed strips. It's cheap enough that I won't care as much if it gets stolen/confiscated/destroyed by the elements/etc. and since it's a wheelgun it won't suffer from issues created by high temps.

just cover any pistol in clp and put it in a pelican case with oxygen absorbers and maybe even silicon on the seal

If you're planning to keep a gun locked up in your car (assuming it is legal where you are), it means that you're not using it or practicing with it during the entire time. If you're planning to use it for an emergency/self defense, you'll want to be sure that you're quite familiar with it and practice on a regular basis. I just don't understand the mindset of those who think they can just put a gun away for SHTF situation but yet seldom use or practice with it. I know there are those who have duplicate guns or at a minimum, a duplicate platform, but I doubt that's the case here based on the question.

I may have guns that I seldom shoot but the ones I have for personal protection or in the event of an emergency are used regularly and maintained. I don't know your level of experience but I would suggest that the firearm be checked and even used at least every 1-2 months. As for the choice of gun, I would pick something like a Glock, XD, or M&P - something polymer and relatively inexpensive but yet still reliable.

Anyway, just my two cents.
