    PWS slide for glock 19

Anyone else have one? I ordered one when they were first announced in April 2015 but they were having issues so I didn't get it until September! Maybe that was a clue but I have had a lot of problems.

The slide is very rough and gritty- hard to rack. I figured it just needed to be worked in so I polished the rails the best I could and went to the range. Had light primer strikes with several different ammo brands. This is a Glock remember - never had LPS before. Almost but not every round would get a dimple in the primer but no bang.

PWS said they would take it back and look at it. I don't know if they ever fired it but they informed me that all the measurements were in spec. I guess that means the firing pin protrudes the right amount or something. But they sent it back with no changes (and didnt send me a new one).

Tried It this weekend and it seems to work better - now I only got 5 LPS out of 200 rounds.

But now my mag drops out after the round is fired. Is that even possible that the slide could cause this? I need to try another frame/slide but I didn't have one at the time. But I have never seen this with my glocks.

Anyone used this slide ? Better experience than mine? Any way the slide could be affecting the mag release?

The slide should not affect the mag release. However the slide may be not allowing your.mag to seat fully?

5 LPS out of 200 rounds is way too much.

I have a PWS G-17 slide. It is very nice, works perfectly, great fit and finish. I am very happy.

What are the most tangible benefits from this? I was very curious initially. Not as much anymore but would love to hear more

Front slide serrations and beveled slide edges in case you don't like that "aircraft carrier" look.
Also a modified trigger pull due to the parts in the slide. The trigger pull is nice and crisp and I don't have to replace my trigger bar and trigger springs.

Primary Weapons Systems was formed by firearm enthusiasts in 2008. Starting out by producing muzzle devices, we tested our compensators on all different types of rifles - from M4/AR-15's to AK-47s. After using both styles of rifles in testing with high round counts, the difference in maintenance needed was both astounding. From that basic realization, the PWS long-stroke piston system was born; keeping the core values of the AR-15 design, while also lessening the need for maintenance in high-volume fire situations and adverse conditions.

How does the trigger compare to a ppq or glock with oem minus connector?

Yeah the price for one of these seems to be a little high.

Very curious if the advantages bear out the price

I don't know about that guys. I was just hoping to find anyone other CG member who has one and hear about their experience.

Regarding the trigger- I have never put in the minus connector in my Glocks so I can't compare. The trigger with the PWS is not as good as the PPQ but it's better than stock Glock. ;-)

It may be hard. I think the cost for what you get on these kills a lot of the appeal. If they were priced at 250 or so I would have tried one

The PWS uses some form of reduced weight striker and plunger spring. Its possible the spring is too light or you have some burs in your striker or plunger channel slowing it down.

The striker spring makes the single biggest difference in the trigger pull weight in a Glock. I have tried at least 6 different connectors in my Glocks and the differences between the good ones are very subtle. The lousy ones give you mushy/creepy triggers with unpredictable breaks.

For Gen 3 guns with a factory striker spring, the Dot connector with a Wolff trigger spring (heavier) is very nice. My Gen4 guns get Gen 3 trigger bars.

For my race guns, the Taran tactical Spring/Connector kit is the best I have tried. I've never had a light strike with this kit in any of the guns I have it installed (17.3, 17.4, 34.4, 41). These guns also use 13lb recoil springs.

Thanks Tony, you described it better than I did. I do like the trigger and the slide is more attractive to me than the OEM slide. Yes it's at a high price, especially when I have sacrificed some reliability it seems. I will keep working with it and maybe try PWS again. I was just disappointed that they wouldn't "make it right". I used to think very highly of them.

After market triggers are a no-no in LE from a legal perspective and they can and will be used against you in a court of law despite the benefits of improved accuracy and control. The EDC gives you the benefits of an after market trigger, plus sights, plus forward cocking serrations, without the legal liability of an aftermarket trigger and the individual expenses of machining and install.

Could the 25 cent trigger job be used against you as well? What about aftermarket connectors?
