Springfield 1911 Loaded vs a TRP?

I have recently been bitten by the 1911 bug. I am currently deciding between a Loaded Parkerized 1911 and the TRP non rail 1911. I like both. Since I do not know much about 1911's I figured I would ask the people who own them. Is the TRP worth the difference in price? Is the TRP truly that much better of a 1911 than the Loaded or is it just hype?

Thank you for the help in advance.

For the difference I would get the TRP and be done with it. Outside of semi-customs, the TRP is pretty much as good as it gets with production 1911s.

That being said, if it's your first 1911 then the Loaded is a really solid choice. It has 90% of the features you'll want in a 1911, and comes at a lower investment.

See if you can shoot either or both of them first. I've shot both and honestly liked the Loaded ALOT better than the TRP. Just my opinion.

The Loaded is a production gun. The TRP has hand fitted parts and is as close to a custom gun as you can get. Both are great guns but in this case you get what you pay for. If you can afford the better gun, get it.

          Hopeton's comment is spot on.

The Loaded is great in itself. The TRP has features you may or may not want.

Really, the best 1911 is the one that has the features you want and nothing you don't. If the Loaded model fits that mold, great. If the TRP fits that, great. If not, you will continue searching. The key, however, is knowing what features you want and don't want.

If pressed to make a decision now, then I would say the difference is worth it.

TRP is super tight. But if you happen to compare the two in hand, and the loaded feels as tight as the trp, get the loaded. You can always upgrade later to trp specs.

I was looking for an addition of 1911 a few months back, I was looking at a loaded, MC Operator and TRP. One of my friends has TRP full rail and allows me to shoot it. I've also shot MC Operator on range rental but didn't get a chance to shoot loaded. I decided on TRP full rail, not because of the name or anything, I've just shot better with TRP. Just my opinion of course.

When I was looking at Springfield for 1911, I was in the same boat as you. For me right after Christmas, both guns were hard to find and only one gun store at 2 SA 1911 Loaded and they were listed at $850 compared to almost $1500-ish for the TRP. I handled both guns in the store, the TRP felt better in my hands (better grip due to the front checkering and grips). The Loaded has no front checkering and the grips are not that aggressive.

I ended up with the Loaded, mainly due to the price and added grip tape to the front strap along with VP Operator grips and could not be happier. But, its your penny and buy which ones feels better to you.

According to Sprinfields website the Loaded has a match grade barrel . When I read the specs on my LGS website it does not show that. Is this a new change in the Loaded and is there a way to tell which one it has when looking at it?

When I was in the same situation I went with the TRP. I couldn't be happier.

I have a TRP full rail. It is by far my favorite handgun to shoot. That being said, it is also expensive. Do you think you're going to get ~$1500 worth of enjoyment out of your pistol, or is it just a hobby that you don't invest a lot of time in? What is your financial situation? Only you can decide what is right for you. I personally favor my trp over all others, and have spent even more modifying it. At this point, I'm close to a WC CQB in price. I have 0 regrets. But if you're trying to figure out if you can afford your car payment after purchasing the trp, go with the loaded. It is definitely the best bang for buck imo for under $1000.

The TRP's have some hand fitting but is not at the level of a Full Semi-Custom like a Les Baer or an Ed Brown.

So I would say a TRP is a step under a Semi-Custom and a world away from a true "Custom" build.
