Brown Kobra Carry

Looking to get one of these used from out of state at a very fair price. Brown indicates it's a Cali gun, but they also said something about the serial number needing to be a CA serial number? There is no model name stamped on the weapon that I can see, only the name of Ed Brown, the serial number, and where it's made. The Cali model # is KC-SS-CAL2, but as I said there are no model numbers on the weapon or any others I've seen online. My FFL said the serial number shouldn't make a difference so I'm confused.

Any help clearing this up would be appreciated, I'm ready to carry this thing!

Can't really answer your question but my KC S/N is numbers only. Nothing on the S/N would show it as "CA"

No. Model number is the only thing they need to be concerned about. If it is used, you need to make sure it is a CA model. If the seller doesn't have the original paperwork, you can call EB with the serial number and they will tell you. Great gun by the way.

BTW, only the stainless model is on the roster.

Correct, but nowhere on the gun is the model number (KC-SS-CAL2) for Cali models...so does the serial number ID it as a Cali gun? My FFL seems to think it doesn't.

There is more than one Kobra Carry offered by EB. What is on the slide is irrelevant.

Try going back and reading the OP.

The OP is concerned whether or not the gun he's looking at is the one on the roster.




OP, here are the 2 Kobra Carry's offered in SS by EB. The model # won't be on the gun, it'll be on the case.

Call the seller and see which one of the 2 model numbers are on the case. Then you'll know if it's GTG or not.

Model Number: KC-SS is not on the roster

Model Number: KC-SS-CAL2 is on the roster

If there is no case, call EB and they can run the ser# to see if it's a Cal model or not.

For the pistol to be transported into California and accepted by your FFL, it needs to be configured exactly as the KC-SS-CAL2 model (i.e. stainless steel, ambi safety, and wood grips). If it has the Gen 4 coating, single side safety, or a different set of grips, it won't match the model that was drop tested. Hopefully, the seller has the original case.

What is this case you speak of?

Ed Brown guns come in a gun bag - a generic looking one - with an Ed Brown logo. They don't come in a plastic box like Glocks, CZ's, etc. There is also no sticker with a model number on the actual bag. In fact, I don't think it's in the paperwork either. I can't recall.

Calling Ed Brown and requesting some sort of proof might be the best route. Good luck.
