    Buying Used Gun

    Hello all,
Quick question for you guys. Since I'm a new hand gun owner I went with a XD 9mm 4' . Love the gun how it feels and shots. My daughter went shooting with me this weekend and she wants it. Man always has to please there girls i plan on giving her the gun down the road.

When I was at the range I was able to rent the glock 17. That one right off hand it felt really good, and shot good. I was looking to buy that one in couple weeks but notice the price on those are high.

I know certain pawn shots and other stores that have used one. What are the rules to look for on used guns if they were taken care of or not? Plus does the life time warranty still apply to used glocks?

What should the max be for used glock 17 9mm? Don't feel like over paying for it.

    Thanks,

Just buy a new one when you can find it.

They are in short supply now, but that likely will change.

$500 used is "fair" in todays' CG Market.

Keep in mind that you can always go to a Glock match, and the Glock armorer will go through the gun and replace any necessary parts for free.

Hard to go wrong with a Glock.

$400 for police trade-ins, those are usually the 40 caliber Glock 22s and Glock 23s

Guns tend to retain their value . . which is why they are a good investment in regards to protecting your wealth from inflation. If you can get a Glock 17 for $450 that would be a good price, but unless you have some patience you likely won't find one under $500 . . in which case you might be best to just get a new one

However, with the used one you won't have to pay sales tax

If it's a Glock buy it used, you can't break them unless you are trying to. I would never buy a new Glock when there are used ones to be had for hundred dollars less.

Maybe in the "CG" market, every where else that's a rip off. A used Glock 17 for the price of a new one? Screw that. Here's a Glock 17 for 425$ http://www.ownmoreguns.com/product.g...con-ns-41-1755

Great price! I'd pick that up in a heart beat. That's cheaper than a used Glock.

Edit: OP, I just realized that you're in Riverside and the store is in Simi Valley. Well that's a bummer. If you figure in the cost of your drive time and gas, you might be better off getting one near your house for slightly higher price or buying it used from a Calgunner. $500 sounds about right.

You should expect to pay $500 for a used 9mm Glock 17, 19 or 26. add $50 for one with night sights.

As for buying a Used Glock, don't sweat it, there are only 34 parts in the Glock so replacing any part is easy. I have an extra barrel, springs and pins for each Glock I own. I also installed the 3.5# trigger.

Or you could join Glock shooting sports GSSF, wait 1 year and purchase a new one for a used price, about $150 off if I recall.

They're out there if you're patient. I recently got a Gen 3 17 with 2 mags, w/o night sights for $400. Just have to be fast on the trigger (pun intended) as they will get snatched up quickly. Good luck

                      Buy new!

Let's break down the real price of the typical used $500 Glock in CA.

                      New /vs/ Used
                      +$499.99 /vs/ $500.00
                      +$40.00(@8% tax) /vs/ $0(no tax)
                      +$25.00(dros) /vs/ $35.00(dros)
                      -$5.65(CC 1%Cash Back) /vs/ $0 (Cash Only)
                      ~$559.34 /net/ ~$535.00

About a $24.34 difference if you played your cards right (plus free crap if you buy in October/November), so not worth it for me at those $500 prices. Much lower sure.

On the warranty, on the technical side, they are not transferable: https://us.glock.com/customer-service/glock-warranty Although they are known (as most gun manufacturers) to take care of the current owner one way or another, used (don't ask, don't tell) or new. Better for a company to spend some dollars (or charge a small fee) to fix a gun than to have bad PR.

If you want extra assurance on coverage, buy from Davidson's/Gun Genie (cost a little bit more): https://www.galleryofguns.com/genie/...=mfg&mfg=Glock
                      Davidson's GuaranteeD: http://www.galleryofguns.com/about/terms.aspx

There is no over paying, you are happy and comfortable with the deal, all is good.
Perspective: what ever you are reading this post with, that has already devalued more then the Glock you are getting, haha!

$425 with no mags. So it's $475 with purchasing two magazines. Sounds similar to the $500 quoted.

I plan on listing a 2nd Gen Glock 17 with no mags tomorrow. No I won't be asking $500 for it that is silly. Nor will I give it away.

I've bought one gun used, which I was lied to on and overpaid because the seller realized I was an idiot. I also sold one gun in which I incorrectly listed the item as the gen2 version when it was the gen 1, because I was an idiot (it was not meant to be malicious and I offered a full refund or discount for it, which the buyer took the discount). Point is to do your homework on what you are buying, and always inspect the item. Being new to the hobby, and not having the knowledge, I agree with some of the other posters to buy new if you can. Glocks can be found on sale quite regularly.
The other thing I will advise you on, and I'm sure a few other cal gunners have done this, is not to buy many guns right off the bat. Most of us impulse bought guns that collect dust now, and after 2 years or so you have a much better idea of what you actually want. Just my 2 cents.
Good luck with your hunt, I hope I helped and I hope you find what you are looking for!

Edit: also some of the 10 round magazines have terrible followers for glock. You may need to replace them
