Here's a link for a blog done by a guy in Argentina. Their economy collapsed in 2001 and they are now a 3rd world country. Aside from getting a perspective, pay attention to the older post on 10/31/08. He gives some great insight on what you need and opinions on firearms.

This might be better off on the Survival forum anyways. Great write up by him. He also posts on ZS and has great insights since he lived and is living through an economic meltdown.

Remember, Argentina was once a very modern country but it would be hard to tell now since their economic problems began.
