Very nice indeed. Good to hear that the FUD on SA 1911's is just too much hype by morons! One of the guns I was able to use before I bought my Kimber was a SC MC Operator and I loved it! However the trigger pull was a little too much for me. All in all that is one bad arse weapon you got there. Oh yeah if it is anything like the one I was using at the range it does take about 500-600 rounds for it to be broken in all the way Happy shooting

        Thanks!
Out of curiosity, what FUD about SA 1911s? I generally only hear people talk poorly about Kimbers, though I've had zero problems with mine.

Usually SA's tend to be jam-0-matics. Also come really loose from the factory, my friend sent his back in to be tightened up. But mainly it is the same with almost anything you bring up. I heard so many people say Kimber this and Kimber that, well my Custom II right out of the box was shooting nice and tight groups. Close to 1,100 rounds fired in the first 2 weeks and or 5 trips out to the range. Goes to show that those that usually talk ish about things usually have never tried it or just want to talk ish regardless. I am sure that's what it is, to me just a bunch of n00bs!

LOL, how many Springfield Armory 1911s have you shot to come to the conclusion that Springfields are jammomatics?

The same thing you mentioned others speaking negatively towards Kimbers, you did the same to Springfields.

I believe that he was just answering my question about SA FUD by repeating what he had heard. I didn't get the impression that that was his personal opinion, though I could be wrong.

My Springfield Armory GI rattles like can full of marbles...but she shoots like a damn dream! It has always been an accurate and reliable pistol that shot to POA right out of the box.

My MC Operator though is super tight. When I first got it, I could barely disassemble the pistol. But again, not one malfunction to this day.

There's going to be lemons out there, be it from Springfield, Kimber, Baer, etc.

On my MC Operator I could not get wilson mags to work worth a damn. I use chip McCormic's and have never had an issue since. Install a wilson buffer washer thinggy it really smooths out the slide. I love mine I use it at prado idpa a few times a month. Its the only gun i'll shoot and trust every time. I ran a Magpul pistol class with it. 1200 rounds in two days and not one failure the entire time and it was dirty as an sob. I only use tetra grease on it and it works like a charm. Still shoots like a dream some 4000 rounds later. I use the bladetech IDPA holster for it.

I am going to send it to springfield to have some custom work done on it. I'm going to replace the grips with VZ grips, front checker the front strap, have them install an extended slide release and extended mag release button. Have them do a work over on it, custom shop detail stuff, and recoat the gun all shinny and new.

+1. My Springfield GI is more loose than Paris Hilton's legs and, like her, it will blow anything you put inside it.

Not based on personal happenings other then my friends other SA was really loose. Like I said it is a huge ferris wheel, people need to hate on others guns to make them feel better about theres. Thanks for understanding, I am not one to try and clown on people for the weapon they choose to buy. Better to stay that way for me, I've been able to play with lot's of peoples weapons at the range just by staying neutral and or showing enthusiasm

I've had my MC Operator at the custom shop for about 3 weeks now, which kind of sucks because the holidays hit while my gun was still there. I don't think Springfield is going back to work until the 3rd or the 5th.

I'm having the frame Armory Kote'd black to match the slide and I'm having a lanyard loop installed on the MSH. When I get her back, I'm going to put coyote brown Simonich Gunners grips on here. Then it will really look like a Marine Corps Operator!

                          Tanker,
That's funny, those are the same grips I ordered for mine(though in black). I'm liking the stock wrap-around now, so I may put the Gunners on a different gun, though.

They feel good, I'm just not a big fan of rubber, as it tends to get stickier over time. I had Hogues on my personal M9 but put the factory grips back on eventually.

Did you get the flat or tapered bottom on your Simonich's?

Other than that, this is the most reliable handgun I have. Even more reliable that my Glock 23, XD-9, and P220R.. those have all had a hiccup or two, but the 1911 seems to be unstoppable.

When i bought it, I was expecting a bunch of problems from all the 1911 horror stories I've heard. So far, I've had no FTF's, FTE's, or anything. This thing eats everything. I've used Winchester, Blazer, and Remington FMJ, multiple types of Hollowpoints and even 70yr old military surplus.. no issues.
