    PPT with hi-cap mags

Need help. Are you aware of any FFL in Oceanside that blocks hi-caps during PPT?

How come you or the owners don't block them?

I don't want to ask the seller a question that is none of my biz. However, it could be an old stash, couldn't it?

        PPT with hi-cap mags

Can one simply remove the base plate and not include it with the mags?
Then it's not a complete kit???

The magazine body would fall under possesing hi cap components under the recent magazine repair kit ban, no go.

I usually only leave the serialized firearm with the FFL for the PPT, since that's all CA is required for them to keep for DROS. All holsters, ammo, accessories, spare parts, etc. that may come with the firearm I usually put in a box and give to the owner at time of sale.

No FFL is authorized to transfer hi-cap mags, even pre-ban, unless the buyer is qualified to receive them (i.e. Law Enforcement).

Oh, dang, I was thinking all components had to be there, in order to be a lot, for some reason

The letter of the law is quite shady here. I wouldn't risk my sparkling and squeaking clean record.

This is not true. But there have been some very recent posts that Librarian has addressed. The underlying premise is "proceed with caution".

OP...asking the seller to block them for you isn't "asking a question that's none of your business". It's complying with the law. If it were me as the seller, I'd be happy to block mags I legally possessed for you as the buyer if you provided me the parts.

I once heard a story that the two parties met up and the seller accidentally dropped something and walked away. The buyer just happened to notice the dropped item, found it and kept it since the seller guy walked away and could not be located.

Just a story I once heard, cant really verify it, nor recommend anyone doing it.

I would have the owner buy some mag blocks and install them for you before you do the PPT. Most FFL's want at least 1 magazine with the firearm when it is in jail otherwise you will have to remember to bring 1 magazine with you when you pick it up. Reason is because you are suppose to perform a firearm safety demonstration before they release the gun to you. Again, most FFL's will not require this, especially if they have delt with you in the past, but some will.

If it's a gun 10 round mags are readily available for, why not just buy one?
