BoMar Style Rear Sight Smith & Wessons

I have always liked the sight picture you get from BoMar rear sights. Weigland Products offers a replacement rear sight for Smith & Wesson Revolvers. I purchased one and installed it on my S&W 686 with front adjustable sight. So far, I have been very happy with the sight, and would recommend it to those of you who are target shooters and also enjoy a great sight picture. The sight was $19.99, very reasonable.

    Here is the Weigland website:

Discontinued Products. Sorry, the parts you are looking for have been discontinued and are no longer available. We manufacture a wide variety of scope mounts and rings for many applications. Learn more!

Of course, when you install the rear sight, you need to purchase new screw and screw nut. Usually, both will break when you disassemble them. The hardest part of the install is not losing the spring and detent. They are very small and easy to lose.

My intention is to purchase a few more of these rear sights and install them on some other Smiths I own that have patridge front sights. To me, that just makes prefect sense since those guns are strictly target, paper punching guns.

Yeah, I like that big bold clear-cut style. The link sez they're still legal for stock gun, that's huge.

I'm wondering how you got to that page, I can't find a way from the home page. I was thinking it'd be nice if they made a whole unit that you could swap out without changing the factory sight assembly.
I meant, it is my opinion that...

They show iron sights under the picture of the scope mount on the home page.

You could buy parts from Brownells and build up a complere rear sight to swap out

I went ahead and installed this sight on another of my favorite target handguns. It's a Smith Model of 1989, or Model 625, chambered in 45 ACP and 45 Auto Rim, which I shoot predominately. My 50 yard groups from the bench with this gun hoover around the 1 1/2" mark.

What kind of pisses me off, is I have a Les Baer that is one of the 1 1/2" groups at 50 yard guarantee models. Paid close to $2600 for that one. And here is a S&W 625 that groups every bit as good but cost me $600 when I bought it, LOL.

Hard to beat a good accurate revolver
