Recoil is not bad even in a stock G20 add a 21 lb spring and its much less add the Long slide and its amazingly accurate quick follow up shots are almost laughable easy/instant . Everyone who shoots this pistol loves it. I run mostly Underwood any of their loads are great I really like The 135 and 200 grain hollow points. the nice thing about this Longslide set up Is it cycles everything from home defense low/recoil 40sw loaded rounds and everything Underwood has to offer no changes needed.

It's funny, I always thought my felt recoil increased with my 22lb flat spring in my G20sf's (stock slide). That said, I stick with the 22lb spring as it keeps the slide off the frame under my heaviest of 10mm loads and yet will reliably cycle my lightest 40S&W loads as well. Talk about flexibility.

I will say, I do leave my G21 slide and mags on the gun (along with 230gr Federal HST's) when it is in my nightstand. The less energetic 45 auto is plenty for HD. The last thing most people need in a home defense round is a 180gr Gold Dot or XTP going 1300+ fps... .

Never thought about a 10mm...press called it too hot for pistol in the 90's. But then again the same press called the 40 S&W the future of pistol defense as the having almost the power of the .45 without the wall penetration of the 9mm back then.

But with the political climate and personal crusades to close loopholes like SSE, the 20SF seems like a must-have before these too are unavailable in CA. I may not need it now but the 10mm sounds like the perfect defense round when in the backwoods. I may not be able to go to the woods now but would like the option to defend myself and my family in the future.

I do think the G20SF is the ultimate woods carry gun. It is lighter than a big bore six shooter, has more capacity and a 200gr WFNGC bullet going 1250fps with its big sectional density is going to make two holes in just about anything you might run into in NA. Just what the doctor ordered when two holes for each trigger pull is a virtue.

I just sold my G20, I also just paid for my G20SF, I already have the Lonewolf extended slide and 6" barrel topped off with a set of Truglo TFO F/O night sights, this combo was very balanced on my G20 so I can't wait to feel how it is on my new G20SF once I can DROS it and actually get my hands on it.

As for a nightstand gun I run a mag of 10mm Hydro shocks I have had forever . And a couple of spare mags of Xtp 200 Grain Underwood ammo .If things get crazy enough to get past 15 rounds of 10mm it's bad enough for heavy fast rounds .

Understand, felt recoil and how people cope or don't is so personalized, I usually don't even bring it up. I will say, even when shooting my super nuclear twilight zone reloads (180gr 1350fps+ out of a stock length G20SF barrel), people who ask to shoot them always remark the recoil is amazingly tame. I think it is the polymer gun, maybe bore axis, a lot of things. I know myself, my 10mm 1911's will really start digging into my hand and causing discomfort at these loading, loads I can shoot the G20SF all day.

Owning 11+ round handgun magazines is quite easy, even if you didn't technically buy them "way back". You could have bought a rebuild kit two years ago so they were essentially sold legally prior to 1/1/15. No need to go back to the 90s.

Since then, rebuild kits were made illegal (sort of, but definitely more problematic) and other holes in the law were addressed.

One can still use such magazines with minimal concern.

Uhm, if you didn't own the magazine prior to 2000, using a legally bought rebuild kit to make the magazine standard capacity is illegal... This type of bad info can get someone in trouble.

I read a story once about a guy who was in a struggle with a bear and disconnected the magazine on his 1911, thus was left with a single shot. He actually shot the bear and drive it off but it could have ended differently. That and a longer trigger pull, safer pushing through brush, has led me to stick with a revolver for woods carry (a S&W 686 .357 w 140 grain Barnes copper - which will be mandatory for hunters by 2014). I have 2 Glocks on my CCW so I'm a big fan but I'm still with the revolver for outdoors. Now if I could get a 20SF with 15 rounds....but alas no

The Glock 20sf seems to have a cult following, and it's definitely on my list of wants--Riflegear has 3 in stock right now... trying... not...to.. pull..out...credit...card...
