For those who don't frequent the Gunsmithing section here on Calguns much, I just wanted to share my first 80% 1911 build. The foundation is a carbon government checkered frame from 1911builders, and the rest of the parts are a mixture from EGW, Harrison Design, Caspian, Cylinder & Slide, Nowlin, Ed Brown, Fusion Firearms, and Wilson Combat.
This has been an extremely rewarding build, mostly inspired by MosinVirus and his infectious (pun intended) enthusiasm and tutorials. If you are thinking about trying this, just know that you will need to digest a lot of information to make sure your build will function, and most importantly, function safely. Oh and if you are in it to save money, you're in the wrong hobby...
I've got a few more builds in the plans and they should be fun!

The white specks are leftover from paper towels I used to wipe the oil off. Some shiny spots are leftover oil I didn't catch... I had limited time to use the equipment at work, sorry...
