    Railed Handguards on AR Pistol

What good would railed handguards on an AR pistol be? What would you mount on it? Idealy I would mount a forward vertical pistol grip but thats a no no without setting up a trust and so on.

So, what would you mount? Do you think it's even worth having a railed handguard since on a 6.5 inch barel, it makes it fairly uncomfortable to hold?

I'm not a fan of putting optics and lights on pistols so railed handguards make little sense to me. However, the railed handguards aren't there solely for mounting a vertical grip, right?

The vertical foregrip is all I'd want it for but I think I just made a mistake and paid extra for the railed handguard and now I don't know what to do with it so I was looking for ideas.

But now I'm thinking about swaping it out.

Hmmmm.... maybe, but it would be very front heavy since it's a pistol with no stock and a 6.5 inch barrel though. So basically the only things to mount are a light and laser?

I see these plates that go over the railed hand guard. Do they work well? Do they feel solid? Where could I get ones that would fit over a 6.5inch FIRSH handguars like these

They are ok but if you are going to buy a rail so you can cover them with guards, why buy the rail in the first place.

You have a very unique upper there. That particular design has some inherant limitations on on what you can do with the handguards.

I think that if you do hold this version by the front section (handguard) you might run the risk of loosing some fingers eventually...

I run a 7in DPMS upper currently with a YHM specter length handguard liek this one

with a pig flash supressor. About 1in of the Pig sticks out from under the handguards and I had to install a hand shield like this one

To make sure that my hand didn't slip forward and blow off a finger.

I ended up covering the rails with some YHM rail covers to proect my hands and the slots in the rail.

I clicked the links and see the pics but I don't really see how they would fit together... Do you have any pics?
