    Ain't this 11 days?

Correct me if my math is wrong, but isn't 1/29 to 2/9 11 days? I purchased and completed the DROS at about 1pm on 1/29. The dealer told me to come back and pick it up on 2/9. Is that right? The 10th day would land on the 8th. I figured I should be able to pick it up on the 8th after 1pm, no? Thanks!

Your math is right but some dealers put an 11 day restriction just make sure you don't show up either at the last minute or earlier in the day than they can release.
it should be on your form.

turner's did that to me one time when I bought a gun later in the evening, no big deal as long as they told me ahead of time.

The big deal is the requirement for a 10 day wait.

Depends on ffl. Some have an 11 day wait to avoid timing issues. I really don't care for shops that do that though. Sometimes they'll comply if you go raise hell about the ten day thing. Honestly, my schedule rarely works out to pick it exactly 10 days after though.

It is s Built In Buffer that a lot of FFL's use to make sure that they do not fall beneath the 10 day threshold. Is it right? No. Is it done a lot? Yes.

Thanks everyone. It's no biggie to me. It'll just help because I'll be on that side of town on the 8th. I met up with another member in the middle, so it'll save me a 20 minute drive. I guess I'll wait until the 9th.

I'm pretty sure Big 5 does the eleven day wait also.

Over the years I've bought several milsurp rifles from them, but since my schedule is usually hectic I just make sure to pick up my new toys before that 30 day mark.

If you're there after the appointed minute, bring your paperwork and give it a try the worst they can do is say no if you're already in the area.
Or call the manager of the store.
              Certainly worth a try.

Yea, I might just do that. What caught my attention was the "time of pickup" on the card he gave me. It says "anytime". That's when I checked to see how many days it ways. I guess they did that to be on the safe side.

IIRC, the system has a "fail safe" that won't let the FFL finalize the delivery early.

But yes, some places do add an extra day for whatever reason. One place tried to tell me that it was because the DOJ (or some other alphabet agency) can come back on day 11 and say denied. I called BS and showed up 10 minutes after the 240 hours was up. Got my gun.
                  Sorry, not sorry.

They can tell you to pick up on a specific day but just look at your DROS and it will tell you the earliest that you can pick up and the latest before you have to re-DROS it.

The 8th is a Monday. There are a handful of FFL's that are closed on Mondays. So they put the pickup for the 11th day when they will be open.

One of my purchases ended up on a Sunday pickup.
The co-owner said she would be in working on paperwork if I wanted to pick it up I thanked her but picked it up on their normal Tuesday open hours.

The DROS now states right on the top when it can be picked up. Did OP or anyone else have an FFL tell them they couldn't follow the DROS (exception being when p/u date/time is a day FFL isn't open or just before closing time)?
