Hey calgunners so I thought I'd share this with you guys/gals and my apologies if it's already been done and posted. I've been slowly converting my pistol sights to black rears with f/o fronts. Traditionally I black out the stock rear sights using a black sharpie, burning it with a lighter or hit it with flat black paint..and yes I know you can just buy a set of warren tactical, Dawson precision or 10-8 but if you want to save a few bucks or like Diy projects you can try this.
Well it bothered me that you can still see the 2 little dots even after blackening them out. Using the stock rear sights I used JB weld to fill in the holes. Let it set for 24hrs then filed it down smoothly. After it was to my satisfaction, used blue painters tape to wrap my slide then rattle canned it with flat black. Did 2 coats then let it dry again for another 24hrs. By the way I left the sights on the slide while doing this. Here are picks of a smooth rear and serrated as well.
My recent purchase of the p2000 was what gave me the idea because they have squat for after markets sights. Well at least what I was looking for. I just ended up going hiviz for the front and its actually not bad at all. Poi is poa (for p2000 owners that want to switch to a single dot system here's an option for you)
Moison virus has a YouTube vid on diy front f/o. I opted the easy route and just order some.
