AR 15 Pistol Buffer & Spring

I'm using an AR 15 carbine buffer & buffer spring in an AR pistol. The buffer tube is the Phase 5 brand, it's listed as 7 3/8" long. My problem - with spring & buffer in place the bolt barely clears the bolt hold open. As in, a credit card's width less and the bolt won't clear it.

When I drop the buffer in by itself (no spring) of course there's plenty of clearance. The spring by itself - OK. But together results in the spring stacking solid. What is wrong, is there another buffer or spring to be used?

I could turn the tube back one cycle, it will still hold the buffer retaining pin/spring in place. Not sure how much more room this gets me.

Just measured my AR pistol buffer length and it's approx. 7 3/8" long - IIRC, I bought this buffer from Riflegear. You certain that you're using a carbine buffer spring? I have at least 3/8" clearance between my buffer and BHO.

Pretty sure. I have so much AR crap around the house, I suppose I could play it safe and do a Brownells order.

Edit: Well I screwed up - that was it. Must have grabbed the wrong spring.
