    HK USP 45 Mods

So I recently picked up a USP 45, I know there's not much to be done with it, but I would like to try a couple things. I like it so far, and I would say I have "medium" sized hands, but the grip is still larger than I am used to. I don't believe the grips are modifiable?

Also, anyone have any experiences to share with replacing the recoil spring, or the LEM trigger kit?

The Sky is the limit with USPs.

You can send your guns directly to HK to have them fit a match trigger which is great. Heck if you're nuts and have an unlimited supply of money send your USP Expert/Elite to Merkle to have them perform their magic. There are also a lot of websites now that sell official custom parts. I wouldn't recommend HKparts however, their prices seems to be a bit higher than these two sources.

i'm surprised a guy with med hands likes the USP's. Almost everyone that shoots mine thinks the grip is too big- except me!

Its been awhile but i got mine in the LH variant I wanted.

About the only thing I would do to mine is get a little better trigger without that cheapass curved plastic trigger body...but i was under the impression you can't swap those out like with the Glocks and M&P's that have the apex kits

The trigger is actually metal coated in polymer.

I put an 18# recoil spring in mine for 450 smc/45 super. The retaining clip is a pita, but doable with persistence. I have a spare recoil assembly for standard loads. Wolff Gunsprings has springs for it.

Replace the magazine release for a larger one like the one found on the HK45c (drop in replacement, no fitment necessary). You'll thank me later

Match trigger kit if you can find one in stock. You can install yourself but its easier if you have the tools for some of the springs. turns a 30 minute install into a 10 minute one.

It makes the grip fatter but much more comfortable

+1 on the match trigger. One of the best upgrades for the USP. Its not too bad to install yourself - there's a lot of good instructions on HKPRO.

I have the match trigger and I like it. I also have Trijicon HD sights.

I also added the larger mag release from the Hk45 Compact - and it will work out of the box, but it really should be modified for full travel and engagement with the mag. I have heard of mags dropping loose when firing using an unmodified Hk45 Compact catch.

I can provide pics of my modified catch if someone needs them. If you don't modify it, it will not have the same travel and engagement as the stock USP catch.

I've bought and sold many guns from Glocks to CZ to HK. But the only gun that I will ever regret selling was my USP45. I am now looking for a USP9 to take its place though, or if I am lucky a USP9 Elite/Expert.

How on earth would you be able to send it to Germany and get it back?

I imagine the paperwork would be a nightmare, especially with the German restrictions.
