How does the grip of VP9 feel compared to SIG P226 (standard or E2) or USP9?
I am thinking of adding HK to my safe, hesitating between USP and VP9

Don't own a 226, but I have a VP9, a USP9 and a USPc9.

The palm swell on the VP9 is a little more pronounced, it tends to fill my XXXL hand better than the USPc. Not that either are uncomfortable or awkward, the VP9 is just a little more comfortable. The full-size USP is considerably bigger than the other two, making it more of an apples/oranges thing to me.

The grip on my VP9 feels as good as my P226 with E2. A better description for both is the VP9/P226's grips feels like its having sex with your hand...

I have both, the Sig has the E2 and the VP9 has the medium grips. The palm swells are similar. But I do prefer the finger grooves on the VP9. The E2 feels great but the VP9 feels like butter.

The VP9 has a little finger hook at the bottom that crowds my giant hands (I'm 6'3" and have big hands even for my size) so that my little finger has to ride up on the point or I have to scrunch my fingers. Neither is a secure or comfortable grip so I'm actually selling mine. Great gun, but just not for my VERY large hands. I would guess that 99% of folks would not have this problem. There are also slight finger rolls but you will hardly notice them. I don't like finger rolls but these on the VP9 don't bother me.
of course the vp9 has 3 different sets of palm and back strap pieces that can make it fit to your hand. These are GREAT!! but they also don't fix the finger hook problem if your hand is that tall from pinky to middle finger (the height of the 3 fingers of strong hand on grip. If you have more normal hands, you will probably love the vp9 with one of the various grip options that come standard with the gun.

The sig 226 has this finger hook issue too but it is not as pronounced or as sharp so it works that my finger rides up on it. The mag floor-plates, however, stick out further and are almost sharp edged. Very uncomfortable if you ride on them. You can trim them down, but that's a lot of fuss. and if you don't trim them enough, they will pinch you on recoil.
the USP 9? oooh yea. Now I gotta tell you I love the way that one fits my hand. full size grip to be sure, but only the smallest hands seem to have a problem with them. flush and no finger rolls. I love it.
both HK's have textured grips that make them secure when wet. The sig has a more 1911 type grip setup with slab panels. I don't really care for these standard grips but there aftermarket options.
Also since you are comparing, it takes a lot more oomph to rack a 226.
H&K had a special recoil reduction system that makes it a little easier on the recoil than the sig
These are fine points, they are all 3 great guns. My pref. is USP, my son loves his sig226.

get the VP9, the grip is worth the price of admission. The USP is great but once you dial in the inserts the VP9 will drive tacks all day and night.

I have the small grips on my VP9 and it feels great.
The mediums felt like my old P226.

I own both... I prefer the VP9 ergonomics... it just feels "right" in my hand like no other pistol. I ran the small backstrap on the VP9 and recently went to the medium strap.. it locks the web of my hand in under the tang.

My preference is the VP9 for sure, but that is just me.

The E2 grip is the best! Even if your had has water or oil, it doesn't slip!

I would even go as far to say that the ergonomics on a VP9 is far superior to even the 1911 for me. However I just prefer the 1911's trigger over the VP9's trigger.

Have both though my 226 is an elite with alumagrips. Both fit my avg size hands well and feel great. The VP does have the palm swell giving it a tad better fit into my palm but damn, tough both are so so nice

I own a VP9 and a USP40 (also have a P30L) the VP9's ergos and trigger are far superior to the USP line and it flat out shoots better for me. The USP line has unique features though, such as being able to carry condition 1 and it is built like a tank. The VP9 is simply built to a lower standard(not necessarily a bad thing because the USP is so over built). That said, and if money isn't an issue I'd choose a VP9 all day over the USP.

I own both and like my 226 but the grip on the VP9 feels like it was perfectly molded for my hand. The ability to change the grip thickness is awesome.

My 226 is the Platinum Elite with the aluminum grips by Hogue.
