The 329PD looks too fragile.
I bought mine through Quantico Tactical, it qualifies under their mil/LEO/1st responder program. Both the 66 and 69 are $649 if you qualify, $849 if you don't

So-off putting to me, I've never even looked into how it works. Good to know it's optional and doesn't have to be used.

Read something about removal and a plug on one of the other threads but maybe too much "bubba" involved with a move like that.
I had the lock engage when I was shooting at the range. As soon as I got home, looked up how to disable the lock. Very easy to do. Disassemble the gun and remove the "flag" part of the lock. Reassemble, and no way it will lock up.

I seriously thought about a S&W 69, but I eventually decided the lighter weight is a detriment. I am staying with a 5.5" Redhawk as my belt holster revolver when concealment is not an issue.

Looks great, but how heavy is it compared to the m69?

Desolation wilderness... That's exactly where I go with these.

I bought both combat magnums last year. The 69 is a handfull to shoot with full power magnums but is really sweet with specials and reduced loads. im not suggesting loads but mine likes 6ish grains of red dot under a 240gr plated bullet. unfortunately the barrel shroud is slightly crooked on mine (front sight canted a bit) but it doesnt seem to hurt the accuracy. my only other complaint is the crown on both pistols is rough, I think its from the tool they use to screw the barrel in (engaging the rifling). Theyve agreed to send me a shipping label and fix it so we shall see.

Not sure what the 69 weighs, but my 3" is about 40 ozs. Definitely not lite. Truth be told, there's no real need for a 44 in the Desolation Wilderness, there's so much human traffic the bears are no where close. If I have a heavy pack and really watching weight, I bring my m60 or G43.
