TLE/RL would be more comparable to the MC Operator. I think the kimber warrior would be more comparable to the railed TRP. I have a kimber tle 2 (no rail) and it's a sweet shooter. That being said, I still want a MC Operator. I don't like the aggressive front strap checkering on the TRP but that is personal preference.

I own a Kimber SS Target II 9mm and have zero issues. I've only handled a Kimber TLE II and a SA TRP. The TRP's aggressive checkering isn't for everyone and the Kimber had a lighter crisper trigger. I would save some cash and get the TLE II. It seems like a good gun for the money. Oh and by the way, a TRP is not even close to a Les Baer. I own a SRP and that thing is just solid. Everything is tight with no slop. Never had a jam or any other issue.

I have a few Kimbers and all are great guns with better finish than SAs and no sharp edges that will skin your hand like a potato peeler. Front strap checkering on SAs is just uncomfortable for extended shooting unless if you have thick skinned hands like a serious operator or working man. I like my SAs too. Both shoot very well no problem there.

That said we are comparing oranges and tangerines here. One is a full rail and the other a half rail more like SA MC Operator. The SA full rail is front heavy and over all heavier than the Kimber half rail. The rest is the same. Never had to use Kimber warranty. Springfield's warranty is absolutely the best you can imagine. good luck.

Yeah like those above saying, the MC Operator and TLE II/RL are closer to each other.

Between those two I would actually go with the Kimber despite being a Springfield type of guy, I just can't let go of front strap checkering.

That being said, I would go with the the TRP, railed or not, over the TLE.

I would never own a Kimber. They just don't have the history of reliability that a Springfield does. Kimber warranty is a year, Springfield is a lifetime. Springfield has a genuine custom shop should you wish to upgrade it. Kimber does not.

Agree completely. Get the TRP! (I'd get a regular TRP without the rail, which is blasphemous and does not belong on a 1911.) A Dan Wesson or Les Baer are good choices, too.

I've got Kimber and SA 1911 (not the versions you are looking at) and both are great guns. I can't speak to customer service since neither has ever needed it. Never seen a speck of rust on the blued Kimber, but my stainless SA did get a few spots that came of very easily.

Take a look at both. I really like the look and practicality of the combat style sights on the SA, but those tritium night sights on the Kimber are really useful in low light conditions. You really can't go wrong with either.

As stated prior, 2 different price points. If the Kimber fits your budget better (remember .45 ACP 1911's are expensive to feed), get the Kimber. They are great firearms. If you have a budget that fits closer to the TRP full rail, don't waste your time. Just skip it and go right to a Dan Wesson or Les Baer, even if that means buying used.
