    Glock 17 magazines?

Question: Are all factory G17 magazines (10 rounders) the same no matter what the generation? Thanks...

No. It's my understanding Gen 4 mags have slots for the mag release on both sides.

I'd guess No. Most Gen3 and Gen4 factory G17 magazines are regular capacity except the ones provided for CA (Gen3 only) and similar states with 10 round restriction and perhaps some Gen4 10 rounders for places with no roster but having 10 round restriction . There are plenty of glocks sold in states with no roster and no round restriction.

      Just a WAG.

All current production Glock magazines are the same generation (Gen4).

So, currently, all Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glocks comes with Gen4 magazines.

Even thought there are nine generations of Glock magazines, they are generally grouped into four generations for simplicity.

generations 1-3 is known as Gen1 (NFML with right side mag catch)
generations 4-7 is known as Gen2 (FML with right side mag catch)
generation 8 is known as Gen3 (FML with right & front side mag catch)
generation 9 is known as Gen4 (FML with right, front, & left side mag catch)

If you have a G3 Glock 17, all G17 mags should work.

I am picking up a Gen 4 Glock 19 this week. Comes with No Mags because they are all Hi Caps. I have Glock 19 mags from my Gen 3 19's. Will they work and shoot no problems? I don't plan on moving the safety or whatever. I am a Right handed shooter.

not sure if gen 4 mags work well with gen 2's (due to the mag catch), but gen 2 mags work fine with a gen 4g17. The Gen 2 G17 standard mag also seems to work fine with a Gen 4 g26 also. I have had no issues with only the right side mag catch built for a gen 2 in Gen 4's. Since my G17 gen 2 was grandfathered in with the magazines, I tested them for a while and no issues.

Glock magazine compatibility is dependent on the type of magazine release on the Glock.

Glocks with the standard magazine release can use all (1st-4th gen) generations of Glock magazines.

Glocks with the ambi-magazine release can only use the latest (3rd gen) generations of Glock magazines.

Glocks with the reversable magazine release set up on the standard (right) side can use all (1st-4th gen) generations of Glock magazines.

Glocks with the reversable magazine release set up on the non-standard (left) side can only use the newest (4th gen) generation of Glock magazines.
