Definitely a valuable piece. Price it high and see what offers you get. I hope the $700 estimate wasn't serious- you'd get multiple "I'll take it" as soon as it was posted.
I'd start at double that. If you don't get any offers, then you know you've priced it too high and you can drop the price accordingly. At some point you find the market.Last edited by jeffyhog; 01-18-2016, 1:50 PM.Comment

My local gun shop had a used one for $500 two weeks ago, that's why I guessed $700.....Definitely a valuable piece. Price it high and see what offers you get. I hope the $700 estimate wasn't serious- you'd get multiple "I'll take it" as soon as it was posted.

I would suggest looking on Gunbroker in the "completed" auctions to see what they actually sold for or what the market is willing to pay for it and not what someone is trying to get for one which may be way overpriced.

Blue or nickle?I would suggest looking on Gunbroker in the "completed" auctions to see what they actually sold for and not what someone is trying to get for one. It looks like the NIB ones sell in the 700-900 range

used blue ones seem to sell quick around here for $1000Comment

Not actually selling for. I reworded my response. It is more of what the market is willing to payPrevious iTrader rating, over 150 Positive ratingsComment

I very seriously doubt that , a 27-2 will be from the '7os , it wiil be pinned and recessed and it's a *pre-lock* Smith. It is decidely a collectors item , even more so in nickel finish.
*IF* you ran across a 27 of any sort for 500 it would a late model post lock example and would most likely be thoroughly beaten into the dirt.
The OP didn't post pictures but if it's really NIB and since it has all the originals with it including the box it will be around the thousand mark , perhaps more possibly quite a bit more. It wouldn't fetch Python prices but it might conceivably bring as much as 1500 to the right collector if it's truely an unfired ( except for factory proofing) example.
Insofar as it goes the rarest of these are the 3 and a half inch ones , the rarest of those example are the Lew Horton guns.
And yes I do collect pre-lock Smiths , would like to see some photos of this one should the OP wish to put some up , even though I'm not in the market for another 27 at this time.Comment

Joking aside. I would drive 2 hours one way if I can find one of those or $500.
I was talking to a friend who is also an avid S&W revolver collector. He has a 27 that's almost pristine with all the original box, papers and all. He will laugh at $1K offer. The wise man said just find your place
