    1911 magazine malfunction question

Anyone have an idea as to why a particular magazine will not lock the slide back on empty on a 1911?

    Other magazines used work fine.

Anything to look at or change with regards to this malfunctioning magazine?

Follower is not plastic. Just the typical metal 1911 follower.

I'll try a different spring and see what happens. Thanks guys.

            Greetings,

I have done some research on 1911 magazines, and together with my own experience, I have concluded that 1911s are finiky with magazines. Some 1911 will do well with some magazines and others will not. Most feeding problems will be solved by replacing your magazine with a high quality magazine like one from Wilson Combat or Cobra Mags. I exclusively use these two brands and have gone through over 500 rounds without any problems - zero problems. When I use U.S. GI magazines or other off-the-wall brand magazines I had problems - failure to feed, failure to eject, etc. The high quality mags solved these problems. ChipMcCormic Power Mags are also excellent. Good Luck! Happy Holidays!

Its true they can be picky as to what mags they like
My Springfield GI jams with wilson mags and has never had an issue with the cheapo springfield mags (mecgar??)

Welcome to Calguns! Yeah, I had a Les Baer that didn't like the magazine it came with. It was the Les Baer premium 8 round mag. What a piece of...anyway, I use CMC power mags and Wilson (47D or ETM) and they work in all my 45 ACP 1911s. For my 9mm 1911, my S.A. prefers Mec-Gar over Metalforms.
