Glock roster question

aim surplus gets in some gen 2 they have some glock 17 gen 2's right now

As others have stated, gen 2 and earlier are grandfathered in. I have purchased two gen2 G19's from out of state, one of which I purchased from Aim surplus and DROS'd last Friday.

t's not exactly "grandfathered"... which implies that they are exempt.
They are on the roster only as long as Glock maintains them.
The roster doesn't "see" the difference between Gen-1 to Gen-3 because the model number is the same.
If Glock renumbers the Gen-3, specifically calling it a Gen-3 as they have with the Gen-4, then we will lose ALL Glock models because the model number change will trigger a retest and microstamping.

Why would someone want the gen 2 over the 3? Serious question I really would like to know. Is there something that the gen 2 has that makes it more desirable ?

A lot of used/trade in LEO Gen 2 Glocks are up far sale at really good prices is probably a reason to buy a Gen 2 over a Gen 3.

Whatever the reason, I'm just glad that we can still get them. Especially with the roster shrinking the way it is.

I can only speak for myself, but no finger grooves on the gen 2 makes it more compatible to my hand.

This is why I would by one.
