Hi, I am just wondering if there is any recommendation of a gunsmith for a 1911 trigger job in San Diego area. And what would the cost be for such job? Thanks a lot.

Have you thought of doing it yourself?..
A buddy from another board guided me thru this and it worked out great. Just want to share. 1. Strip the frame completely 2. Polish the trigger bow with #400 + # 600 sandpaper until it`s slick as a mirror. ( I also used my Dremel with a felt tip and some jeweller`s rouge.) 3. Polish the...
Worked out good for me and it was free.Comment

It depends what kind of trigger job you want.
Defense type trigger is easy, just a clean up and tune.
Competition trigger will cost money for it may need replacing MIM parts depending how light you want the trigger. The wise man said just find your place

I have a Springfield TRP. The trigger fair and crisp, but the weight is a bit heavy. I don't have a trigger gauge so not sure what the weight is. I've tried Nighthawk and Ed Brown triggers and really like those. So I hope I could improve my TRP trigger. Thanks for all the help.Comment

You can lighten up your trigger pull by replacing the Springfield ILS with a standard MSH and lighter spring (along with other caveats). There is a thread in 1911 forum that covers the process.

Here is your price check to go back to the motherland. http://www.springfield-armory.com/wp...cing2016_1.pdf
There will be a shipping charge (Springfield will get you a better rate) but summary:
$150 - Action job, series 70 pistols (4.5 lb pull or greater) with existing parts.
$275 - Action job with tool steel match hammer & sear, lightweight trigger (Required for trigger pull less than 4 lb)
A quality local shop should be close, bubba job should be much less.
An alternative is to buy a complete trigger kit, and those range around 100-200, so you can have 2 different trigger system/weights. Might be a advantage or dis-advantage, up to you, but just an option.Comment
