Please Suggest L.A. County Gunsmith for Colt Revolver

A Colt Agent revolver needs a tune up.

The timing seems to be a little off.

Probably needs a good cleaning/lubing inside.

    Preferred area: San Fernando Valley.

I do know about King's Gun Works in Glendale, but I have heard there are issues there: change of owner/management [?] & supposedly a backlog of 18 months before new service requests can be handled--if I am wrong please (politely) correct this.

Please suggest gunsmiths you trust or whom you have heard to be trustworthy and competent.

    Thanks.

Jim Hoag for all your gunsmith needs. Fantastic guy, fantastic smith, be around a LONG time, and is too much fun to talk with.

        www.davesmetalworks.com is who I'd ask.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

I'd send it back to Colt.

Try any of the above. I do know that King's has had a turn over as I worked there for a bit and I know the gunsmith that has now retired, not sure about their present situation regarding gunsmithing. The Colt DA mechanism is a fairly complex piece of work, they are not easy to work with like a Smith & Wesson revolver. The Colt action consists of about 5 or 6 parts that all seem to do 2 or 3 things at once, so a simple part replacement is never simple as there is more fitting involved with these vs. other types. I would probably try Hoag first since that is closest to where you are and he has been around for a while.
