I have a question about ordering a Glock 17 frame. I was at LGS and asked if they could get me a Glock 17 frame as I have all the other parts to put ine together after upgrading the one I have. I was told its illegal to order a pistol frame in Ca. What I dont understand is if I were to buy a Glock 17 pistol complete and have it shipped here there is no problem with that so why would it matter if I ordered just a frame because it should be registered as a Glock 17 pistol right?? As long as its on roster should be no problem. So is LGS got there facts wrong or is there a reason you cant get a frame in Ca.??

You can only legally purchase handguns on the CA approved roster.
A frame is not a handgun for purposes of the CA Approved Roster, therefore cannot legally purchase under current CA law.
Buy the G17 and sell the parts.Constitutionally, officials cannot license or register a fundamental right.

What ? Buy frame and when you start your dros put on your old slide on frame. I just did this and have done it before.WildLeaks.org -

I was going to buy a Glock 22 frame for a build of a Glock 24. My FFL told me I could buy a Glock 22 gen 3 frame off gunbroker (there were many listed for $185-220). I ended up just buying a used Glock 22 and selling the top end.Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.Comment

I tried this same deal and was told that only the complete gun would qualify as the correct one described in the SKU on the roster.
if it was just a bare frame, you may make it different than the SKU and would be illegal
I have 3 slides I wanted to mate to some other frames, they said just buy a complete gun

Your first mistake was thinking that CA laws made sense.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.Comment

I was thinking the same thing.

Buy the guns, part them out. You can get complete LEO trade in G22 for $340 up here in Sac. Glock does not sell frames to anyone, period - so how you expect your dealer to order a frame is beyond me even if it were kosher in CA.
You are on your own, and frames are not on the roster, nor are frames with Zev uppers etc. If a FFL gets audited during the 10 day and DOJ expects to see a rostered G22 in the safe but instead they find a G22 frame with the Zev upper you stuck on it - you think that is going to fly if it was not entered as a roster exempt PPT or other roster exempt sale? You know of any FFLs going to risk it all for that? If so let me know who.
Your choice is to buy the guns, part them out, or find someone selling a frame via PPT (rare) so it is roster exempt.Last edited by SkyHawk; 01-12-2016, 6:40 PM.Comment
