    Polishing a Gp100 SS?

I used to spend a lot of time shark fishing. I used a ruger GP100 357 to make sure the sharks were tame when we brought them on board. It seems some saltwater splashed up on the gun while we were fishing and ended up in the case where the barrel is inserted. I cleaned the gun before storing it in a cloth type case and haven't looked at in 15+ years.

It has significant rust on the tip of the barrel and some other rust marks on the sides of the barrel. The insides of the gun are all in good working order.

I cleaned the gun recently and was able to get some but not all of the rust off it.

What is the best product and procedure I should use to get this fine gun looking good again?

    Thanks

Use fine steel wool on that rust. If the crown is rusted to you can try polishing it off with steel wool but be careful not to damage the crown.
