Is the S&W Bodyguard a Jframe?

    Hello,

I was wondering, I dont own either but the frames look similar. Does anybody know if the bodygaurd use the same dimensions as 442 Jframe?

Reason I ask is because i Like the grips on the bodyguard and would love to have them on a 442.

    Thanks

Yes. e.g., I could swap the crimson trace laser grip from my 638 bodyguard to a 442 and it would fit perfectly.

Do you think these grips would fit your 442?
Forgive me for borrowing this link to show you which grips I want on a 442

No! Not at all the same. The new M&P BodyGuard .38 revolver uses a completely different grip than a regular J frame.

          This^^

          The M&P 38 bodyguard has a different frame than the 638 which is a true J frame (models 36, 37, 442 etc)

OP I think the closest you'll get to the grips on a M&P Bodyguard is the Pachmayr compac professional. Hogue also makes a similar grip but they are bigger.

I like a rubber grip with actual rubber on the back of the frame, like the Taurus 85 grip.
The snubnose revolver is an excellent option for personal defense, especially with the right ammunition. In fact, it is an excellent option for the firing from a jacket pocket which means it's also available when you need it for personal defense. Read this post to discover the best option for you.

Unfortunately the Taurus grip won't fit a J-frame. At least not without some work, which I didn't try grinding the grip or anything. I like the short grip that doesn't hang down below the bottom of the frame, and tried the Hogue version, but I still don't like it because it has the back strap of the frame exposed, so no cushioning again.
I am going to try a Pachmayr next, as suggested. I still like their grips the best so far for being rubber, but not "sticky" like some others, if that makes sense.
All I really want is a Taurus 85 rubber grip for a J-frame!!!! Let me know if anyone has done it please!

The Crimson trace Grips that came with my 642 air weight should fit the 442.

                  The answers above are correct.

                  The M-38/638 Bodyguard is a J-frame, the M&P Bodyguard isn't

Hogue Tamer grip offers the most amount of cushion over the backstrap.

Thanks guys. I liked the thin grips from the M&P bodyguard but oh well.

That's a weird looking gun. Confusing because the old J-frame was called Bodyguard first. The new one has a plastic grip frame it looks like.
