    Shooting range

    Hi Gang,

I'm going up to Vacaville for Xmas. Going up Weds and coming back Monday. Does anyone know of fairly close range that might be open Fri - Sun.? That will also take .50 AE and AR 15. I want to try out my first loads of .50 and cap off a few .223 off my new AR.

    Thanks.

There you go.. I don't think they allow OLLs so you might wanna call them. I know Bullseye in San Rafael is very OLL friendly!

You can take a 45 minute drive to Richmond Rod & Gun Club; they have a great range and friendly folks there. Not sure about the .50 cal though.

I usually go to Guns, Fishing and Other Stuff to shoot my pistols. I'm sure you can't use the .50 there, probably not a gun with an OLL. It's just a little indoor range.

You may want to try the Yolo Sportsman's Association. It's just 20 minutes up the freeway from Vacaville. I've never shot there though. Here's the website:

I plan on checking it out after the New Year. If anyone from the Yolo County/Sacramento area frequents this place I'd be interested to get your comments.

You could also try http://www.unitedsportsmen.com/ There an outdoor range in Concord where you could fire both.

Thanks for the ideas gang. I hope the one in Vacaville will do the AR and 50AE. I will be vehicle challenged so I will only have a car for local use. I would have liked an outdoor range in Vacaville, Davis area. That would have been nice. I will call the one in Vacaville tomorrow.

Yolo Sportsmans Association is a great outdoor range. Well cared for and safe. About 15 minutes West of Davis. I have no idea what their rules for .50 Caliber or EBRs are. Looks like a lot of rain this week though.

I've never seen an indoor range that would allow big caliber rifles, but I haven't gotten out that much.

Another Vacaville indoor range - the Shooting Gallery

I thought the Shooting Gallery got closed???
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

                      The Shooting Gallery is closed.

OP: I don't think Guns and Stuff is OLL friendly. .50AE should be fine though, it's a handgun round like any other. No shotguns allowed, I know that.

Vacaville: I work in Woodland with a guy who's a member at YSA, and he says it's decent. I've been meaning to go check it out sometime, maybe when it stops raining. I don't have any EBR's but I'll ask and let ya'll know.

Looks like they win. They take 50AE but no AR's. Funny they take the .223 but no AR's. You would think they would be for this stuff. Anyway I'm good thank you. The 50AE is most important.

                        Thanks again
