I have no idea what the sales numbers are but I expect more Glocks are sold. I love my XDS it's my carry weapon. I like the little extra saftey feature of the grip safety.

You can still get any off roster gun via PPT, but sadly you will pay a premium. If you see one for less than 700 then that's a "deal" out here

When we talk about face to face PPT through an FFL, does it really mean both parties present? Or can the seller ship to the FFL and the buyer goes to the FFL for payment, processing all the nonsense, waiting period, etc.

FTF means FTF. Both parties need to be present.

In order to be a PPT, both parties need to be present and need to be CA residents.

If the firearm is shipped, then it is not a PPT.
If one of the parties is non-resident of CA, then it is not a PPT.

Not a PPT, means the handgun needs to be on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale or be exempt from it (C&R, LEO sale, Olympic, SAE, SSE2).

My opinion from observations made reading gun forums is that the G43 is more popular than the XDS. Most of the popularity for the XDS is in the 3" 45ACP model. The Glock 43 is $50-$100 less than the XDS in free States.

You can buy a used gun off an individual that has been deemed "unsafe" by the State of California, but you can't buy a new gun from a dealer that has been deemed "unsafe" by the State of California.

XDs does look nice... only reason I went with Glock is because I am used to shooting and handling glocks.

To OP.. you can buy xds from here as well... you might be able to see few here and there at calgun market place.

After asking around some more I guess I need to be more specific. My dad bought an xds and doesn't like it, he asked if I want it. He lives in az. And I live in ca. Can he give me the pistol legally?

Yes, because that would be an inter family transfer. Because he is is a direct blood relative, the roster does not apply in this case.. even though it is not a face to face.
