What MIM parts can I expect to find ?

= A lot! I own a TRP and it is very well put together but I feel that they are somewhat overpriced considering what people ask for them in the marketplace.

Are Colt's or Kimbers any different? Is there any issue with these parts being MIM?

The only ones I'd recommend be immediately changed out would be the slide stop, barrel link and extractor...high stress parts.

As a second tier, I'd replace the fire control group when I had the trigger tuned...only because it is easier to tune non-MIM parts

I think the TRP is a great gun, even with the MIM parts and all. I bought mine a few years ago during the big panic when inventory was low. I paid the full $1525 MSRP and even looking back I don't feel guilty about it.....it is worth it. I have seen them in the marketplace for anywhere from 1150-1300 and if you keep an eye out new ones go on sale from out of state sellers for like 1300. If your goal is to buy a TRP and go all crazy and replace MIM parts......don't buy the gun. By the time you buy the parts and pay to have them properly fit, you will put yourself in the Baer or Dan Wesson price range. If you buy it and leave it as is and shoot the snot out of it, you will spend way more in ammo than the gun is worth long before you have a problem with any of the MIM parts.

If I recall, the Professional only has 3 MIM parts, most of everything else about it is forged (?) someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't see why people get worried that there gun is gonna fall apart.. my current trp op has 38k rounds of hard use and a steady diet of full power 45 super and 460 rowland rounds.. of course use the correct spring for your app..

my fps recently got a hairline Crack in it. But It hasn't failed yet ... don't get me wrong I have replacements parts on stand by.. but most people will never shoot there guns much.

But....but....but the interwebz says MIM parts will give your gun herpes and cause it to blow up just by racking the slide....

besides, nobody on Calguns shoots their handguns more than 200 rounds anyways if you believe the classifieds section.....

its not a semi custom gun its a production level gun and the only parts that aren't going to be mim are going to be the trigger the barrel the slide and the frame, just like the rest of Springfield production level guns.
for the money it's a very well built gun....that can generally be found a lot less expensive bought in a gun store or new online versus our market place here. Trp prices in our market place are ridiculous

MIM parts, IMHO are superior. Each MIM part is dimensionally identical (in theory) to the original part that the mold was made from.

Why do people thing their MIM parts will disintegrate into dust?

Do we really think we know more about metallurgy than the guys who design and build these things?
