    9mm vs plate rack

So I bought a Glock 19 yesterday, looking to get some extreme bullets. I will want to go shoot steel with it at some point and was not sure on bullet weight for a plate rack. Are 124's fine or should you be shooting 147's?
Been a long time since I shot 9mm and never on steel.

It really doesn't matter. Any 9mm works on plates. Lighter bullets will have higher velocity; heavier bullets are slower but have more momentum.

Glock in general will eat almost anything, pick your poison and go have fun.

The 135gr rnfp is another good option. The 147 "heavy plate" has been a very good for me, noticeably more accurate than the standard 147gr.

It all depends on how the plates are calibrated. Std commercial mfg Target 115gr 9mm should be sufficient as long as you get good center mass hits. On steel like full size pepper poppers, 9mm and hand loaded mouse rounds that get peripheral hits sometimes don't do the job.

oh, forgot about the poppers. i am leaning towards their heavy plate, double struck bullets, or whatever they call them. Those are only available in 124 or 147 grain, otherwise would get the 135's. I will have to think about it some more or just get both I guess.

Never had any issues knocking plate rack plates with 115grain jack Ross reloads which aren't exactly reloaded "hot". Large Poppers otoh can be a bit problematic if not calibrated or if you have low or way off center hits. Just buy some Winchester white box at Wally World and have some fun. They'll knock them over no prob as long as you do your part.

You should be fine with any standard 9mm load. The plate racks should be calibrated to fall on any 9mm hit.

I use Winchester white box, Remington/UMC bulk box, and Blazer Brass 115 grain interchangeably and the plates go down. You should have no trouble with any of these.
