    1911

The title states my problem. But this is my question, can I get my slide cut for Novak sights even though it has been cerakoted? I really do not want to get the whole slide refinished an I was wondering if it would be ok to just cut the rear and front sights right through the cerakote without damaging the finish that will be visible after the sights are installed.

You should be able to send it in to ria they make the novak cut for a nominal fee if you don't already have it. Supposedly the new ones do. You have to call them and ask about how that will affect your cerakote though.

Well I havnt been able to get a response from many companies because of the time of year but I am still wondering if the Novak sights can be killed directly through the cerakoting without damaging the finish to the extent where the whole slide will need to be refinished.

Most people will say just buy a new gun, but I like this gun, and trust my life to it and would much rather just spend a bit more money on it so it can be 100% the way i want it. It turns out that I would have been able to get a way "better" 1911 with the trade and money I put into this one, but I am astounded with this 1911's reliability and wouldn't want to risk getting another 1911 that isn't as reliable.

Did it come that way from the factory?

If yes, they should fix/replace it (the slide) free of charge, plus compensate you for the ceracoat work.

If no, how the heck did you bugger it up?

        Sorry, not sorry.

I got the gun Via ppt in trade but yes, it did come that way from the factory. I contacted their customer support and got some BS answer staying that because the sights on the gun are not the sights from the factory that it has nothing to do with them but that to me says they don't understand the problem. I would honestly rather just get a good Novak cut done by a company known for doing that or a company known for 1911's in generala
