HELP chiappa rhino problem

My father got this thing for christmas from my mom. I don't know why but he's wanted one since they came out. It was a single action exemption and came with the part to convert it to double. He performed the conversion and is having trouble with the hammer activating. I took it apart and looked at it and we watched some disassembly videos and can't see whats wrong. If you pull the trigger fast in double action its fine but if you slowly pull, the hammer doesn't fall until you release the trigger. Same for Single action it doesn't fall until you release. I posted a video so you can see in fast double, slow double and then single so you could see. If anyone has an idea of what could be going on inside please let me know. Would like to get it fixed this weekend so he doesn't have to take it to a gunsmith.

I'm sure this is not going to be that helpful, but whatever shop your mom got it from should have done the conversion for you. Most places charge a fee for SAE and as part of that fee the conversion back to DA should be included and then they keep the SAE part and reuse it.

I would recommend putting it back to the SA and then bring it in the shop as if you have never touched it and ask them to do the conversion.

Lives in Visalia got it in the Bay Area so not gonna be able to take it to the shop it was purchased at. There was no fee because Chiappa actually ships them out like this now, the shop didn't do anything.

It's going to be really hard to diagnose it over the Internet beyond someone saying "it's broken."

I have one and it had issue with the trigger a while ago so I sent it back to Chiappa to have it fixed. For me, that was the best way to ensure all the parts were up to spec and in working order, since I also got it through the SAE and was never sure it was put back together completely correctly.

The reason I was happy to send it back is that sometimes a small mistake makes a gun work "almost correctly," but you end up with random reliability problems. It happened to me with Kimber Solo, where there is a little trick about catching one small spring when putting it back together (otherwise it disassembles the same as a 1911.) If you get it wrong, you end up with a lot of FTF-s and it gets frustrating.

I'm thinking that's what he's gonna end up doing. The internals are more complicated than other revolvers and I just don't want to take it apart more than what was required to install the DA. I know he would feel better about the manufacturer doing it.
