    First 1911 purchase

    Hello,

I'm looking to purchase my first 1911 because.....well I want one and I don't have one in my collection. I'm not looking to spend too much money, not more than 2k, but I want one but that will be worthy of being the only 1911 in my collection. I've read and read and read many threads on here but just in case I missed one, I thought I'd pose the question again. I think I want to stick to traditional .45 as most of my handguns are 9mm so I don't need another, however I'm not completely against other calibers if it has that "cool" factor.

    Thank you everyone in advance.

EDIT: looks like the standard les Baer or Dan Wesson responses looks like I just have to decide between the
    One. Thanks.

For $2,000 I would look at a Les Baer Custom.

For the first 1911 you are certainly putting up enough money to start right.

Knowing what I know now, and based on my experience and preference, if I had $2,000 to spend on an off-the-shelf 1911, it will be a Les Baer Premier II or maybe a Les Baer Custom Carry. However, I will still prefer, over a Les Baer, a Springfield Mil-Spec for around $700 and send it over to Alchemy Custom to get the features that I want using the $1,300 I have left.

                  Hope this helps.

Without tax, some new Baers (Premier II, Custom Carry, TRS and other models) can be had for less than $2,000

$2,000 is a lot of money IMO for a 1911. But for that much money I think I'd get a Les Baer. I like the NightHawk Customs and Wilson Combats, but those are more money

Les Baer PII or Custom Carry.

If you can't find locally, call either of the 2 top Baer dealers below for great pricing. I used Crazy John for my Baer Monolith.

Two. That's right: two Springfield Loaded model 1911.
