Difference between Glock 17L and 34???

What is the difference bwtween the Glock 17L and the Glock 34???

17L is slightly longer and has the traditional squared slide (the muzzle end) instead of the beveled slide that the 34 has.

I believe there is another reason, I read up in glocktalk a while back, something about in competition (IPSC?)there is a max limit on barrel length and 17L is just a tap over that limit. Not sure what competition was about and not sure what limit length was. I wasn't interesting in competition shooting or wish to shoot long range with my pistols, so detail is a bit fussy.

It was for IDPA.

Glock 17L and Glock 24 were too big.
