P64 question after installing new hammer spring

We are all Masters of our own Ship. It's the course changes that you make, that affect your life.

I'm not paranoid, I know they're out to get me.

Yes that's how the P64 shoots. I believe it has to do with the barrel being fix to the frame. Unlike other semi auto design, where the recoil is dissipated as it tilts the barrel as the slide moves rearward. You may want to use some rubber inserts like the Hougue's JR grip pad or DIY using a bike's inner tube.

It's 9x18 Mak, pretty wimpy load to begin with. Have them shoot a .44 Mag 2" snubnose revolver with full house loads. That'll hit you hard in the web of your hand. I've never understood it, I have over 1,000 rounds through my P64, it's not a high recoil gun. Maybe when compared to a .22 but it's really a mellow shooter to me. No entiendo.

FWIW my experience has been a bit different - my backpacking carry gun is a S&W 629 3", in .44 Mag. I find it a pleasure to shoot compared to the P64; the reason is that the N-Frame grip of the 629 has a lot more contact area with my hand than the P64 (i.e., so distributes the force of the recoil over a larger area).
