    Colt Defender .45acp

Anybody have one of these. Do you like it? Accurate? I just bought one to replace my Colt Officers. Sounds like a better carry gun due to it being a lot lighter.

I have been thinking about picking one up myself.

      Dad has one.

its reliable for a 3" 1911 as long as you replace recoil springs often and keep it clean/lubed, but it is unpleasant to shoot compared to a 5".

takedown and cleaning are a big +, it is very easy to do.

Accuracy wise, it's mechanically very accurate but in practice its just average + high recoil for a light alloy gun.

I had one and it ran flawlessly but was getting brass to the forehead. I'm pretty sure ejector and extractor tuning would fix that. Sold it anyway.

I love mine, carry it more often than my G23 or XDS 45. Very accurate. I dont like those Hogues so I trade off between some Crimson Trace and the Wilson StarBurst. You should buy a couple of Recoil Spring assemblies. I was lucky to grab a Colt version when they became available at Midway, you'll have to just keep checking MidWay and Brownells. I'd also grab one from Kimber since I hear they are just as good or better than the Colt Assembly.

Grab an extra extractor (Ed Brown or Wilson bullet proof) while you're at it.
Haven't had any issues with her so far, I did the 500rd of FMJ before I started putting HST, REMINGTON and Hornady JHPs through her. She ate everything nicely. PLUS, It's such a sweet looking tool.
