Need Feed Back: W. German P228

I need some feed back on West German P228 in great condition with the box, mags, instructions, & test target. They dropped the price to $785. I've stretched myself bit because I'm going to be moving back to CA in a few months. Is it worth the price?

I picked up a mint West German P226 a few months ago. I think a P228 would go nice with my collection. However, I also wanted to pick up a Sig Legion P226. Unfortunately, I can't have both.

    What do you guys think.

Out of CA prices, that's too high IMO. My in CA 2006 P228 with all original items and literally 50 rounds through it by the previous owner was $700.

IMHO, one of the best old-school Sig you can get, and arguably one of the best 9mm ever made. The build quality, balance, and accuracy are just some of the attributes of the P228. Get it, no Sig collection is complete without.

Funny, not long ago you were talking crap about your p226 lol

I paid $570 for mine, just gun and mags, add a few bucks for the box/target. Price isn't too far off, but I assume you're only buying it to resell in CA so go for it, you'll make $200 selling it here.

The price of $785 for a full set WGERMANY P228 is pretty much lower end of fair market value here in the limited supply Ca market. Outside Ca that's right at fair market value. its a popular discontinued pistol that people tent to hold onto once they get them so the available supply of NICE, full st P228's to market continues to dwindle even outside the state. Remember the WGERMANY guns are considered the most desirable. The guns SiG put together in the mid 2000's are not as hard to comeby and therefore don't command the best prices.

If you live outside CA and are moving back, I would buy a P226 legion. You are allowed to bring your off roster handguns with you when you move into Ca. In fact If I were you I would buy as many legions as you can. Ill buy one from you at a tidy profit should you decide to sell.

My point is there are lots of P228's in CA now that are available to you as PPT. There are NO P226 Legions and never will be other than for LEO purchases or people who move instate with them. Buy now what you can never get in CA; The P226 Legion...and bring it with you. Hell buy more as investments...and sell me one!

I never talked crap about sig. I didn't agree with the statement that is was the best gun ever made. How can anyone make that statement? I don't think Sigs are that great. I also heard that some of the slides on the older guns were breaking. If that was the truth then it's an issue.

I like the idea of having a West German made gun and to be honest it's more of an investment and not necessarily something that i would never sell.

The only sig I would never sell is my German made P220 and that's because it was my very first gun.

Do it, you won't regret it. I foolishly sold mine a year or so ago. In good condition they tend to usually sell for 7-800 dollars, so I think the price is not unreasonable. To add, prices on even P6's are starting to increase. I'd get it now while you have the chance. You can also install the SRT trigger kit into it and mags are still relatively easy to find.

You're right, not exactly talking crap.

Guess what the have a tendency to break if you shoot them hard. When I take the gun apart and look inside the slide I can see where it's welded. I would have no problem selling it. It just a gun.

I purchased a lot of guns recently, however, I've decided to stick with Glocks & VP9. If your serious about shooting having a bunch of different guns is not a good idea.

What are you trying to accomplish? I don't take any of it back. If the slides were breaking then it's a problem. Sig are not the greatest guns ever made. It seems you're board and looking for some excitement. Go look elsewhere.

Funny, I don't recall reading anywhere of slides breaking. Carbon stamped slides were heavily used by Mil and LE across the world.

                      Where did you "hear" this?

Get the one you would rather have since you cannot get both.

Buy the P226 Legion or even MPX. You can sell it in CA for more than $800 over purchase price when you get to CA, so you can get your money back plus enough profit to pic up a P228 off the classifieds, and CA gets another off roster gun in circulation.

The P228 is a classic. You already have the P226, and the Legion is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. I'd be all over the P228.

Or tell us where the 228 is so we can get it.
