Glock 40 conversion to 9mm

I have seen a conversion kit that can change a Glock 22 .40cal to shoot 9mm. Does anyone know if the gun is reliable after the conversion? I would be using it as a full time duty gun

It works extremely well. Just call lone wolf and they will take care of everything. Make sure you get new maps though.

Only way I would do this for a duty pistol, is a 9mm complete upper (17 or 34) and a 9mm ejector in the trigger housing, and 9mm mags. At that point you have a factory 9mm pistol.

I just got a Glock 23 that I plan to use mostly with conversion 9mm barrel. From what I read - it functions reliably with just a drop-in barrel and 9mm mags (G17 in your case), but many also recommend to swap trigger housing - ($9 DIY project).

That being said - I will use it for for plinking, maybe an occasional action pistol shoot, not as full time duty gun.

Not sure what kind of duty you are planning to use it for, but it probably does not require high-volume ammo usage. Why not carry it as .40?

I have a Glock 35 with a 9mm conversion barrel. Yours should be reliable if done right but not sure about using it for duty.

I have gen 3 Glock 23 with lone wolf conversion barrel, by just change conversion barrel & magazine shot 500 rds 100% reliable, I bought a extra g23 slide assembly in case need to change extractor & ejector to shoot 9mm only but is not necessary.

A duty gun? You might want to ask your department or agency if that's allowed. Mechanically it will work as my G35 converted to 9mm proves. I did change the ejector and extractor with 9mm OEM parts and the ejection direction of brass is more consistent.

Your an LEO, roster exempt, get a gen4 G17 or 19.

I have a G22 with a Double Diamand conversion barrell that I bought from glockstore.com. yesterday, I hit the 700 rnd mark and never had a failure. All I do is change the barrell and use G17 mags. The only thing I've ever noticed is when I used 115 reloads from Freedom Munitions, the ejection was weak. When I use new 115 or 124 reloads from FM, the ejection is fine. I would not hesitate to use the conversion barrel for HD although I will admit, I keep it in 40 mode for HD but thats mainly as I have two mags of 40 loaded with HD ammo.

The only difference after changing the barrel and trigger housing is the dimension of the hole in the slide for the barrel and rollmarks.

The difference is in one case you have a gun built and certified to shoot 9mm and in the other case, you have a modified .40. In the latter case, if there are any problems with 9mm, you own them all by yourself. I would NEVER assume that risk for a service weapon.

For a full time Duty gun, get a new gun....

I have had some issues running the conversion.... Some say that changing the extractor to the 9MM from the 10MM will fix the extraction issue....

For $100 you can swap the barrel and shoot cheaper 9MM... for a defensive gun, I would get one made in 9MM

Real funny, but you can be damn sure when the law suit starts and they read the serial number off the gun that Glock Inc will know EXACTLY what caliber it was made in and any other calibers fired from it will be all your deep pockets...

Most definitely! That's why most agencies specify brand and models that can be purchased by officers as duty guns if the officer does not prefer the handgun issued by the department.
