It kind of looks like a standard Glock 17 that got destroyed by a soldering iron and a dremel. I love Glocks, but seriously, no amount of grinding and melting will make a G17 look good, sorry.

How much did it shrink your reload times?

It's about ease of use. I don't have long thumbs so I'd have to change my grip to drop the magazine. Now, I don't.

Exactly. Now it's up to him to decide if he likes it. Reload times are irrelevant.

Another downside to an extended magazine release is accidental contact in holsters. I've had this problem with even Bladetech holsters in certain circumstances with certain guns.

Why would anyone take your suggestion when you say that the perceived benefit from the recommended product is "irrelevant"?

I think it matters to a lot of people how long their gun remains empty. If you're suggesting someone buy something, but have no metric to show how it's improved anything, what's the point?

The improvement is the larger area to press on as previously explained. Why do you think Glock made the gen 4 release larger than the gen 1-3?

Glock sure thought a redesign of the mag release for the Gen 4 to make it further back towards the thumb would be a benefit. But, they must be wrong according to your logic...

One of the subtle changes is the magazine release. A lot of people that customize the Gen 3 put an extended magazine release on their guns, so Glock just did it for them. The release doesn’t stick out further or just bigger around, it extends towards the back so it makes the push a shorter reach for your thumb.

Glocks own design must be wrong. You should contact them and advise them of their mistake.

If the release "extends further back" then it is "bigger around". I'm scratching my head how you can say that the Gen 4 mag release doesn't have a larger surface area than the Gen 3.

Are the details really too hard to understand? You can attempt to troll me and pick apart the wording but in the end Glock engineers decided an extended mag release on the Gen 4 was an improvement over the gen 1-3.

Usually, extended = longer out the side of the gun

It's easier to push with your thumb as stated at least 4 times!
