    Sig 226 Questions

    Hey guys,

Just curious on this question, what are the differences in the Sig 226 variations over the years? Just picked up a 226 and it had a blue box with no front serrations and a different stamping on the side then the newer ones.

No LCI or disconnect obviously but are the new ones any better or worth more?

    Just wondering, Thoughts?

    Thanks Cal-Gunners!

a more detailed description of what you've got would assist those that would try to help you and pictures would say more than words.

if it does not have an LCI, then you scored and nice model.

You have a run of the mill plain jane P226R.

Its a great pistol. Get a .357 Sig barrel and have some REAL fun with it.

Doesn't have the Elite grips though. But he could have added these items after the fact. You see where this gets tricky?

But, it's a nice one for sure. Upgraded sights and trigger and no LCI and mag disconnect. Looks like it's in good shape. And these things are really the main differences. As the years went by, Sig started offering guns with more upgraded features...night sights, SRT trigger, Elite grips, coating on the internals of the Navy model (denoted by an anchor on the frame), etc.

What do the stampings / roll makrks on the slide say? Rail or no rail?

If it has a rail and SRT it could be any number of iterations. If the markings are different on the side you can easily tell if its an american made frame or german because obviously it will say German laser etched into the side or have the "DE" marking on it. Other than that the differences should be very minimal.

An elite model would have a beavertail on it'd but it would also have forward serrations unless the previous owner switched out the slide to get rid of the LCI which is entirely possible. My guess is you just have a stock P226R and the PO had the SRT installed by factory. Either way you have a very reliable gun.

Looks like a plain Jane. But the slide has a solid roll pin in it leads me to believe this was made some time ago. Could be a German frame model as well. Upgrades were done after it was made I believe. Either way it's a nice piece. If u got it for around 800 I think u didn't over pay for it.
