So the question is where is the best place with the best price to buy ammo looking for a good protection round like Federal HST 124gr or similar

Double check local law. IIRC, there is a city (possibly the city of sacto) that bars shipping of ammo to residences in that city.

Can ship to surrounding areas, such as RioLinda, FairOaks, Elverta, anything that does not have a address in the Sacto. city limits.
Also if you buy ammo in person from a store that is in the city limits, they will take a copy of your driver license and have you sign a log book of sorts.

Off topic, but I've found that running my Shield with some grip tape is a worthwhile upgrade.

I've tried a couple, Talon Grips and Traction grips, with good results from both. The Talon's were $18 shipped, the Traction's were $7 shipped
(via the shooter's mindset discount code on youtube).

Question: "Are the Talon's worth 157% more money"?
Answer: Not to me, but other's swear by Talon. So, as always, YMMV.

Of course, you can also get a roll of skateboard tape for even less and roll your own.

The 124-grain is "backorderable" at Cabela's, and if you order by the 17th, you can get free shipping (Code: 5JOLLY). The problem is that it's a lot more expensive since it comes in the fancy plastic boxes of 20 instead of the LE-style cardboard boxes of 50 that SG Ammo and Bone Frog GC sell.
