    Used Sig P226

I stumbled onto a two-tone Sig P226 off roster at my LGS. It has a little wear and tear. Asking price was $789 not including tax & dros. Is it a good deal? Please remember that this is an off roster gun, meaning no LCI and mag disconnect.

The gun has a small ding on the slide, not terribly visible. And the barrel indicates that it has quite a few rounds down the pipe.

What caliber is it? That makes a diff in value.

Is that a pic of the actual gun for sale - does it have that short reach trigger?

Did you test to be sure there is no mag disconnect and the slide hasn't just been replaced onto a CA version frame?

How is it being sold - consignment, or PPT by one of the employees, or are you roster exempt?

Yeah..I've check and there was no LCI & mag disconnect. It was displayed in the case with a "USED" tag attached to it. No..I'm not exempted. No...that's not the picture of the gun. But the real gun looks like that save for a small ding and the decocker wiggles a little bit.

I'll come back tomorrow and ask them to take a few pictures. While I don't know a whole lot about Sig general prices (only own 3), I feel that it's a decent price.

It is not a bad price for a 9mm with no nanny state features. But new or used, the only way an off roster pistol can be sold to someone not exempt is if it is consignment or PPT, or the gun itself is exempt (like C&R).

LGS in my area have a ton of cool used off-roster pistols for sale.... only to law enforcement

I'll check with them tomorrow to see how the gun is being sold. From the talk this morning, I was under the impression that I could buy it if I wanted to. No mentioning of being exempted or not.

Good to very good condition is ok to me and will buy it if I was in the market for one. Send it to Sig for reconditioning and you'll have one great pistol.

Most old, used guns are off-roster, so for myself that won't add any extra value to the gun. I think two tone SIGs are cool, so I myself would go for it. If you could get them to come down to $700 then I would think that is fair.

Ask to pull the slide and check underneath the rails.
I'm fine if the finish is thin or gone, you can always bed it down with grease and be fine.
                  If there's galling, walk away.

There's lots of Sigs, not every gun is listed on calguns.

Casually checking out stores and letting everyone know what you were looking for was the internet not so long ago.
