Coke, I took sandpaper to the MG kits to soften them up a little. They don't bother me anymore. MG parts are definitely sharp from factory.

I'm probably going to order these to test for you folks soon. I'm curious myself after all.

My 8rd mags are my backups... rather than risk grabbing a backup mag with the sleeve not fully down, I just removed them.
Good point. The Shield is my wife's home carry pistol and she uses the 8 +1 Magguts for her carry with another 8 rounder for a backup. We both like having the mag sleeve for pinky resting purposes.

I tried to use Gorilla glue to keep the sleeves in place, but that lasted until I picked the mags up again after letting it dry overnight. I've thought of using a tiny set screw to keep it in place or even a tiny roll pin, but I rather not have something protruding into the magazine body if at all possible.

Repost of some pics of the stock sleeves with the backs cut off and sanded smooth.

Those mags fly out when ejected. No more hanging up on my palms.

I haven't tried myself, but I've read on other forums of people putting a wrap of painter tape or electrical tape around the base of the 8 round magazine - forum users have reported that the sleeves don't move when installed over the tape. Might be worth a try.

Finally got a chance to run SD ammo(hst/hornady critical defense) thru the shield and it looks like the magguts +2(10 total) wasn't feeling The HSTs. The first round would get stuck on the feed ramp and it would take a little extra to chamber it. I tried 9rds with the hst and it worked great and did 10rds with the Hornady and it fed perfectly.

I've had no issues with HST with the 7+1 or 8+1 1st Gen

How new is your Shield? I had a year and probably 1,000 rounds on mine before the upgrade.

I have a similar experience with my Shield using 147gr HST and 147 gr Speer Lawman ammunition. Probably have 100+ and 500+, respectively. Absolutely no failures with the 1st gen MG 7+1 or 8+1 mags.

Try to sand the sharp edges on the follower a little. You really shouldn't have to if MG had better QC, but it's what you have in front of you.

I lost a LOT of photos folks due to the level of suck that Photobucket has downgraded themselves to.

I recovered what I could, but if there is anything specific that you want to see or have questions about, please ask me.

                            I switched to Imgur.

Yea so they're useless lol. I deleted the account immediately. I went to Flickr to maintain privacy ability. The photos are private and not freely viewable or searchable by anyone.

It's not like I keep anything odd on there, but I don't like the idea of someone browsing through my photos.

FYI to all regarding the Mag-gut magazines..I have had the first generation set since first available in 3 factory mags and they have performed flawlessly. I keep them fully loaded 24/7 and empty them every other month or so at the range. Great lil gun for carry and the mag kits, while kinda pricey do the job and retain the conceal ability of the stock configuration. Highly recommend!
