    S&W M&P .45 - CA roster

The only M&P .45 models on the CA roster appears to be the 4.5" barrel standard size version - with and without thumb safety.

Does this mean that the 4" barrel midsize version - S&W part number 109307 might not qualify for sale in CA or is it simply that S&W have not got around to having that particular model cleared for sale?

From the DOJ website, I see that those 2 M&P .45 models are due to 'expire' at end of January 2009.

From what a couple of S&W reps have told me the DOJ changed the rules on them after the first few M&Ps were approved. For a while the DOJ was using a dreamed up requirement that the loaded chamber indicator be visible from 15 feet away. The M&P could not meet that requirement so S&W stopped submitting samples for testing and contemplated legal action. My understanding is that the DOJ recently dropped the 15 foot requirement.

Can you get the M&P without the mag disconnect feature or is that LEO only?

You can get the ones on the Roster; if some of those do not have the mag disconnect, you can buy those.

Otherwise, someone exempt from the Roster requirement, most often LEO, would be allowed to buy it.

Any idea how hard it is to perform a disconnectomy?

It's easy. Took me about 15 minutes and 25 cents in parts (a spring). You need a couple of small punches and a small hammer. Tweezers and wire cutters help.

Only the M&P with Mag Safety is approved for sale on the roster...

                  Back to the original question...
So is it likely that the M&P will be 'renewed' on the roster - as it appears to expire at end of January
                  and
is it likely that the 4" inch barrel midsize version might also be approved??

I did email S&W Customer Support - and got a 1 line totally useless reply from them.
