    Glock "slide stop" problem???

I just ordered a couple of slide stops for my Glock 17. One of them has an extra piece on it. What is this for??? The slide stop with the extra triangle piece does NOT fit in my Glock 17.

Interesting... it's not on my G22. Will check back for the knowledge.

The bottom one is for an older style, 2 pin frame. All new G17s have three-pin frames.

            We have a winner!!!!

1st gen and some 2nd gen Glocks have this slide stop. All 2.5 gen and newer use the slide stop without the dorsal fin.

My G17 gen 2 with a DOM in early 1994 does not have the fin. Any one know when the fin was phased out?

Was it there to to limit its upward range of motion?

I believe your 3rd gen falls under newer.

Can I just grind down the "fin" off so I can use it??? Do I need to worry about covering up the area that I grind down???

On the G17, any serial number up to and including XG came with the older parts. Glock discontinued making those parts since at least 2002.

I don't know where you purchased it but I would send it back for a refund.

Edit: All 3 letter prefix serial numbers should have the upgraded part.

I would do it if it were me. Few minutes with a Dremmel and move on.

I have. Worked fine. Did it w/ my master gunsmith's tool: The Dremel.

I thought for sure this thread was gonna be about how Glock slides "automatically" release if you slam in a mag in hard enough....
