Most cops aren't gun guys.

...and LEA buy their personnel Glocks because they are the absolute best that can be had. Perfection, so to speak, right out of the box. No mods are necessary...

Glock triggers are heavy to begin with, idk why anyone would make it heavier if they weren't required to

NO department will allow mods to any issued weapon. Any individual who mods a personally owned weapon internally will not be using it on or off duty.

Glock did the NY springs for those departments that think they can overcome training deficiencies with hardware.

LAPD does not allow the modification of the trigger mechanism at all. the most you could do to your pistol is maybe stipple it and buy better sights and that's only if its one you bought on your own. Cant do anything to the department issued one

Usually departments have policy that does not allow officer's to mod their duty weapon. This is mostly due to liability. Im sure it varies department to department.

My coworker's brother works for the Feds and says that most agencies don't allow modifications to duty weapons, owned by department or privately. His biggest reason is that a defense attorney can turn your weapon's modifications against you in a trial/lawsuit after an officer involved shooting, arguing that the weapon was modified with a "lighter trigger" and "heavy duty springs" and "combat sights" that were designed for killing. Of course, a normal person will argue that a duty weapon isn't meant to be a tree ornament, but the fact is that any lawyer can churn up doubts in a dumb juror's mind.

Two years and almost 1700 post, wondering why you didn't ask this in the LEO section. Sure most of the answers here are correct, but if I'm asking a question pertaining to one distinct group of people. The logical thing to do is ask them directly, when you have the ability to do that and you do.

My agency installed 8 pound triggers on ours. My personal Glock that I carried for years still has that trigger in it. I need to change it out one of these days.

I believe the NY trigger is 12 pounds. I also have heard that their accuracy on OIS's dropped considerably after they went with those triggers.

Sometimes agency policy is not always the best, no matter how well intended.

Edit: I also ran Trijicon night sights and a Hogue grip.

My old Dept (not in CA) allowed Trijicon night sights or NY triggers to their dept issued Glocks. No other mods allowed.
